About the International Multidisciplinary Team (iMDT)
A multidisciplinary team approach (MDT) is considered best practice in the treatment planning and care for patients with cancer. It is an integrated team approach to health care in which medical and allied health care professionals consider all relevant treatment options and collaboratively develop an individual treatment and care plan for each patient.
The iMDT project, initiated by AME Publishing Company (http://www.amegroups.com), is an updated version, involving all relevant international health professionals discussing options and making joint decisions about treatment and supportive care plans, taking into account the personal preferences of the patient, to provide high quality, precision treatment options and management of the individual patient’s needs. More to the point, the patient can receive a combination of therapies in outstanding hospital, which is recommended and decided by a group of domestic and foreign professionals without going abroad. The patient will appreciate the convenience of receiving all of services under one roof, but the advantages to our multidisciplinary approach go much deeper. On the other hand, iMDT can help health care providers to make the right decisions at the critical time point in the treatment of disease, allowing patients to receive appropriate treatment and maximizing patient safety and quality of care. Academically, with the collective wisdom, the case will be documented and published in the iMDT corner of AME journals.
