Won Young Kim is the professor of department of Emergency Medicine at the Asan Medical Center. He graduated from Chosun University as MD (1998), Ulsan University as PhD (2004), Specialist in Emergency Medicine (2003), and Intensive Care Specialist (2009). Won Young Kim is Board member of the Korean Academy Society of Critical Care Medicine, the Korean Academy Society of Clinical Toxicology, the Korean Academy Society of Traumatology, and the Korean Academy Society of Emergency Medicine. He is the director of the Korean Society of Emergency Medicine, of the Korean Hypothermia Society, and of the Korean Shock Society. He is also a distinguished member or consultant of many scientific committees and decision-making organizations dedicated to diagnosis, treatment, and research in the field of post-cardiac arrest care and shock management. Won Young Kim authored or co-authored more than 100 peer-reviewed papers. He developed a sonographic technique for assessing ventilatory weaning failure. This has been applied extensively in clinical field and was used for more than 40 papers. Currently he is the Chief of Emergency Intensive Care Unit of the Asan Medical Center, and served on the editorial board of Journal of the Korean Society of Emergency Medicine and of Clinical and Experimental Emergency Medicine.
